Wall Relay

Relay and film project – the path of the Berlin Wall as a film set and exhibition location.

Wall Relay
A film by Gerd Conradt

Where was the Berlin Wall? What does it look like there now? The path of the Berlin Wall – visible history that is now being documented in a new film. The filmmaker Gerd Conradt, a chronicler of the city and a dedicated Berliner, will film the Wall Relay until 13 August 2011, the fiftieth anniversary of the building of the Wall. The film will not only show the very different urban and natural landscapes along the former border, but also the people of Berlin. In the wall relay, runners will carry a Berlin flag along the former line of demarcation between East and West. The camera will follow the relay, with filming taking place in different stages. Some 500 runners will be involved in total. The former death strips will become a symbol of today’s vitality and an emblem of peaceful reconciliation.

You can take part in the relay and become part of this work of art! (The event fee of €25 includes a DVD of the relay.) Further information is available on the Facebook page, Facebook/Mauerweg Stafette.
